It is so easy when our little ones are sick to think of the failures.  Our failure to protect them from the microscopic bad guys.  The failure of their immunity to defend them.  As I lay with Julien today before work I had another line of thought arise.  It is amazing how fast he is recovering from his current GI bug.  It is amazing how thoroughly his immune system is scavenging and destroying the virus that made him so ill.  In 72hrs he will have gone from exorcist-inspired vomit to a happy kid with a nearly eradicated virus.  This is the equivalent of planning and executing full-scale warfare against a terrific enemy so perfectly that there are zero civilian causalities.  Our immune system is one of the greatest wonders of the human body.
